Now, It's Been a Year!

Whooeee....am I behind! Last September (yep, that's over a year ago, folks) I posted my list of things to achieve by the age of 30 (see below). Well, I'm a year older. Let's see what we've accomplished:

1. Not even close! We're going to start trying next August, so maybe only one by 30!
2. Nope! But we DID get a new dog, Lucy! They are BFFs!
3. Not yet...maybe something big next summer.
4. Took Jeff to Charleston, SC! Check!
5. Nope, and don't think I will until baby time.
6. Nope, but I DID get my Gifted Certification!
7. I now realize this one's not for me! I'll just keep going to classes.
8. I'm now cooking 3-5 times a week and have tried over 30 new recipes! YAY! Thanks, Pinterest!
9. Not yet.
10. Ditto #9.
11. Nope, but I did get a bass guitar!
12. No, but I still would like to eventually. Maybe our church will let me sing in their (large-group-can't-hear-just-me-individually) choir.
13. I've since realized this one's not for me, and that's okay!
14. We are working on this one! We've now figured out our plan for the basement (music themed) and have a pool table down there.
15. Still working on this.
16. Have not seen this bridge in person yet, dang it!
17. Nope.
18. Nope.
19. Jeff fixed the fence, so this one counts!
20. Ha..curly hair. That's a funny joke.
21. Nope, but I've gained...does that count?
22. Nope. :(
23. Nein.
24. Negatory.
25. Nope.
26. Nope.
27. I have been dark brown/pretty much black for almost a year!
28. We have started visiting the Food Truck Park on occasion!
29. With the help of 57 episodes of "What Not to Wear", I've been inspired and have trashed a lot of my old clothes!
30. Thanks to Pinterest and SkinnyTaste.com, I've been doing this as well (although the waistline is not yet showing it)!

Well, 7 out of 30 isn't too bad! Until next time (hopefully not year)...... :)

30 by 30

So my friend, Jillian, just did a "25 by 25" post, and well, since that ship has sailed with me, I thought maybe I would do a "30 by 30" post. (Side note, has it really been 10 months since I've written on here?? Ok, so here goes:
1. Have a baby---I would kind of like to have 2 by the age of 30, but we'll see!
2. Get a cat (who will hopefully get along with our dog!)
3. Go on a big trip with the hubby..possibly for our 5 year anniversary. This could be another all-inclusive resort, cruise, or out of the country somewhere.
4. Take Jeff to some of the places I've been, but he hasn't. Examples--Washington, D.C., New York, Miami, and my geeky side REALLY wants him to see Jamestown and Williamsburg!
5. Take a chance and cut my hair above my shoulders.
6. Get my Master's degree.
7. Get my Zumba Instructor's certification...this one is a long shot, but we'll see!
8. Get to the point where I am cooking 4-5 times a week instead of 2-3.
9. Take myself, Jeff, and whatever kids we have to Disney! (Jeff has never been there, either.)
10. Go to the Apple Festival in North GA.
11. Get back in to playing the guitar on a regular basis.
12. Join a choir of some sort (strange, I know)
13. Coach a cheerleading squad. (I turned down a job this summer and have been regretting it ever since.)
14. Get every room in our house updated, cleaned, and fully functioning.
15. Get regularly involved with our church somehow.
16. Go see this bridge in person. Every time we pass it on the way to Nashville or Gatlinburg, I see it in the distance and have always wanted to see it in person for some reason!
17. Renovate our master bathroom with a bigger shower so that I can use it and not the guest bathroom!
18. Get a new back deck.
19. Get a new backyard fence.
20. Find a way to wear my hair naturally curly on a regular basis.
21. Lose weight...maybe around 15 pounds..and tone up!
22. Take a girls' trip somewhere...haven't done this in a while!
23. See another Broadway musical besides Wicked or Phantom of the Opera...maybe Les Miserables.
24. Get the front yard in shape and KEEP IT looking good!
25. Karaoke by myself in public.
26. Get LASIK surgery.
27. Do something FUN with my hair that I've always wanted to do..like go red/auburn or something!
28. Eat at some of the "cool" restaurants in ATL that I've never tried (Vortex, Flip, etc.)
29. (Taking this one from Jillian) Update my wardrobe to more "adult"...I have some stuff in my closet that is 10+ years old!
30. Eat and cook healthier so the hubs and I can make it to 30 and beyond!

So...what's yours?

Ten on Tuesday

Back By Popular (not really, maybe 3 people) Demand....
It's time to blog again!

Here's my Ten on Tuesday! A special thanks to Erin for letting me steal yet again.

1. Do you color? If you do, is it with markers, crayons, colored pencils, etc.?
I LOVE to color!! Being an art teacher's daughter, of course, it is ingrained. I don't discriminate against different mediums, but I DO love coloring with crayons--dark on the outside and lightly shaded in the middle.

2. What’s the most organized part (or system) in your house?
Probably MY side of the closet.

3. What’s the most unorganized part (or system) in your house?
Every other part that isn't my side of the closet. J/K...maybe under the bathroom sinks.

4. If you had unlimited amounts of time and money, what museum would you want to see and why?
I love any history museums....Smithsonian, the Museum of Natural History, etc.

5. What is your favorite part of the fall season?
THE WEATHER!! It helps to eliminate any frizziness in my hair!

6. Did you dress up for Halloween?
Pretty much every year of my life, excluding the last 2 years. :( As I get older, it's harder to find excuses to do it.

7. Have you started Christmas shopping?
Nope! Haven't even thought about it. "Gift Giving" is last on my Love Languages. I can't help it!!

8. Do you crack your knuckles?
Yes, and my big toes.

9. If you had to live in another city for a year (all expenses paid), which city would you choose?
I can't decide, but it'd have to be somewhere with fall-like weather, low humidity, and GREAT food.

10. Do you have any reoccurring dreams?
Several. They include--Teeth falling out, going to work or other public places with no clothes on, and students acting horrible.

Ten on Tuesday

A special thanks to my friend, Erin, for letting me steal this!

1. Where did you go to college?
Kennesaw State University...home of the HOOTY HOO Owls!

2. What did you study?
Early Childhood Education

3. Was college really all that it was cracked up to be?
The social aspect of it was all that and more!

4. How far were you from home?
About an hour...perfect distance!

5. Did you have the same roommate all four years?
Out of my 4 years living on campus, I lived with 2 girls from "Disgusta" Ga (1 year), one crazy Puerto Rican who I absolutely love (all 4 years), two beautiful Colombians (3 years), and a Brazilian (one year). I learned more from them than I ever knew I could. Te quiero mucho!!!!!

6. Where did you order food from at 2am?
Order, no. Waffle House visit, yes.

7. Did you date in college or were you tied down?
Tied down, dated, all of the above.

8. Funniest drunk college moment?
...

9. Did you make it to class on time?
Shamefully, no. I was a constant 5-10 minutes late to every class my first 2 years. I got a little more responsible as the "teacher" side kicked in.

10. What was your favorite class in college?
I really loved one of my Literature classes...don't remember the name of it. I do remember that we read Dante's Inferno...those 9 levels of Hell...geez!

More Flags.....

=More Fun!

So I just got back from Six Flags. My friend Jena and I had free "teacher passes" for having students participate in the reading program.
*Thanks kids!!* Now, this was not my first trip to Six Flags, but my first as a 25-year-old OLD LADY! At least, that's what the rides made me feel like.
So...here's my short summary of the good and bad:

Goliath-- A-
This ride is pretty awesome. We rode it first thing because the wait for it is usually the longest. It has some 20-story drops and goes over 70 mph! I did manage to tire out my legs from trying to keep myself in my seat the whole time!

Batman-- A+
Batman will forever be my favorite ride at Six Flags. Maybe it's because it was the first crazy coaster I rode, or because I have dreams about it all the time. Either way...Love it!! I really like the whole "Gotham City" feel with the Batman music. Random- they painted it blue!

Mindbender-- B+
Not the "Riddler" anymore...back to its old name! Not much to say...still green..still goes really close the the ground......

Superman-- A-
This ride is freaking awesome! Totally disorienting to be riding on your stomach facing down at the ground. I would consider this one the scariest ride in the park. Would be an A+ if it were a little bit longer of a ride! And yes, at one point I DID hold my hands out in front of me like Superman!

Scream Machine-- C+
Up....down....Up....down...Up...down...Not my style, but whatever!

Wild West something-or-other Comedy Show-- A-
I was a little skeptical about watching a show, but this one was actually funny! Plus, it allowed time for the lunch to settle!

Mine Train--A-
How could you not love the Mine Train! Classic! Really good ride for folks who are just getting started with roller coasters. Only ride in the park I have ridden 10+ consecutive times!

Scorcher--B-
If you love to stand up and have the blood rush from your head while simultaneously having your crotch squished, then this ride's for you!! Just kidding...the Scorcher is a pretty neat concept! Gives you a little bit of a headache, though.

Georgia Cyclone-- D+
Dear Cyclone...years ago, you were my favorite. Now that I'm old, my body just can't take it anymore. We've had some good times, but I'm afraid today was my last ride. RIP

Might As Well Confess...

So...after seeing a couple of friends' confessions today, thought I might as well join in the fun!

Friday Confessions:

#1. Tried to "work" in my room today...some people have been working in their rooms all week, but I have avoided my room like the plague. Stayed today about an hour and a 1/2, then bailed!!

#2. I took some desks from a somewhat-empty classroom...we'll call it "extended borrowing". In a rush, I tried to carry 2 desks at a time and one slipped and bruised the back of my leg. Payback.

#3. Turned the thermostat down about 3 degrees from where it's supposed to be. Don't worry Jeff! It will be back up to 72 by the time you get home! :)

#4. I fasted all day to get my blood work done at the doc's office, then proceeded to gorge myself with Zaxby's and a sleeve of Fudge Striped Shortbread cookies and milk!!

Whew....confessing feels good!
